Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are the agreement between you and SodaStudios ("we", "us") for your use of sodastudios.org, the SodaStudios game and our Discord bot (together, the "Service"). By registering or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. About SodaStudios

SodaStudios is an independent, fan-made revival of the online world known as Coke Music, MyCoke and Coke Studios. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company. "Coke", "Coca-Cola", "Coke Music", "MyCoke", "Coke Studios" and related names, logos and artwork belong to their respective owners and appear here only to identify the game this project recreates.

2. Who may use the Service

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you must have a parent or guardian's permission and they should read these Terms with you. You may not use the Service if you have been banned from it, or if the law where you live forbids it.

3. Your account

  • You can register with a screen name and password, or sign in with Discord, and you can link Discord to a password account or add a password to a Discord account from your account page.
  • Give accurate information, keep your password and login links private, and tell us if you think someone else has access. You are responsible for activity on your account.
  • One person, one account. Do not create extra accounts to gain decibels, rewards or leaderboard positions, or to avoid a ban.
  • Screen names must not be offensive, misleading or impersonate another person, a moderator or a brand. We may change or remove a name that breaks this rule.

4. Community rules

When you use the Service you must not:

  • harass, threaten, bully, discriminate against or target other people, or post hate speech;
  • post sexual content, or any content that sexualizes or endangers minors, or share graphic violence or illegal content;
  • share other people's personal information, or ask children for theirs;
  • spam, advertise, scam or phish, or try to obtain other players' passwords, login links or items;
  • cheat, exploit bugs (including item, decibel or score duplication) or use scripts, bots or automation that give you an unfair advantage, without our permission;
  • attack, probe, overload, scrape or interfere with the Service or another person's account, or try to access anything you are not meant to;
  • buy, sell or trade decibels, items or accounts for real money or anything of real-world value;
  • break the law or infringe someone else's rights, or encourage anyone else to do so.

If you find a security problem, please report it privately to a moderator instead of using or publicizing it.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of what you create, such as chat, mission statements, studio and mix names and music mixes. By posting it you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, copy and moderate it as needed to run the Service. Only post content you have the right to share. We may remove content that breaks these Terms or the law.

6. Decibels, items and rewards

Decibels, furniture, avatar items and rewards are virtual, exist only inside the Service and have no cash value. You do not own them as property, and you may not sell, trade or transfer them for real-world value. We may adjust, reset, remove or rebalance them, for example to fix bugs, correct exploits or keep the game fair. Nothing you earn is guaranteed to stay available.

7. Moderation and enforcement

We moderate the Service and may log chat and other activity to do so. If you break these Terms we may, at our discretion and without notice, warn you, mute you, remove content, reset or remove items, suspend or delete your account, or ban your account or IP address. If you think we made a mistake, you can appeal through the SodaStudios Discord server (message a moderator, or use the help and report channels), or the in-game help report.

8. Copyright and other rights

If you believe something on the Service infringes your copyright or other rights, contact us through the SodaStudios Discord server (message a moderator, or use the help and report channels), or the in-game help report with your name, a description of the material and where it appears, and a statement that you are the rights holder or authorized to act for them. We will review it and remove material where appropriate. We may close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe.

9. Third-party services

The Service works with Discord and other providers such as Cloudflare. Your use of Discord, including signing in with it, is also governed by Discord's own terms and policies, and we are not responsible for third-party services.

10. Changes and availability

SodaStudios is a hobby project. We may change, pause or shut down all or part of the Service at any time, and it may be unavailable or contain errors. We do not guarantee that it will always run, that data will be backed up or that progress will be kept.

11. Disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and uninterrupted or error-free operation, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

12. Limit of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we and the people who run SodaStudios are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, virtual items, decibels, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed US$50. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and some places do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

13. Ending your use

You can stop using the Service at any time and can ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy). We can suspend or end your access at any time if you break these Terms or if we shut down the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as 5, 6, 8, 11, 12 and 14) will survive.

14. Changes to these Terms, governing law

We may update these Terms. We will change the effective date above and, for significant changes, announce them on our Discord server. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms. These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the U.S. state where the operator of SodaStudios is based, without regard to conflict of law rules. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
